Our mailing address is Ionia, Michigan, but when people ask us where Safe Haven is located, we just say “Everywhere!" All of our rescued pets are in foster homes so our location is wherever our animals are. That might be Ionia, Portland, Greenville, Grand Rapids, Sheridan, Lake Odessa, Belding . . . get the picture? And speaking of pictures, we'd like to point out that all the pets shown at the top of the page are Safe Haven pets that have found their forever homes.
Living in a foster home gives pets the opportunity for learning and socializing, and makes them much more suited to move into an adoptive home. To be available for adoption, dogs are heartworm tested, vaccinated for kennel cough, distemper/parvo and rabies. Cats are tested for feline leukemia and “kitty AIDS,” and vaccinated for feline distemper, feline leukemia and rabies. Plus all pets are spayed or neutered and dogs are microchipped. All dogs are on heartworm preventative and any flea or parasite treatments are applied as needed to all pets.
So you see, these pets are about as “good to go” as we can make them. We hope browsing our site and checking out our adoptable pets and their stories will be an enjoyable experience. We will be updating and enhancing the site continually so please come back often.
